Maison Ruinart, founded by Nicolas Ruinart in 1729, is the oldest Champagne house in the world, with roots tracing back to the vision of the Benedictine monk Dom Thierry Ruinart. Nicolas Ruinart, nephew of Dom Thierry, established the company, which quickly became a reference for the production of elegant champagnes, using the chalk cellars of Reims (the "crayères") to age the bottles.
